And the Bridesmaids Have It!
I am a huge fan of non-traditional attire for the bridal party! I believe, that while it is YOUR wedding, that you should want your maids (most of whom are great girlfriends...I hope...) to also look fabulous! Afterall, gone are the days of what we affectionately call "Stepford Bridemaids". Your best gal pals need not look like an army of overly coiffed, poorly styled, ill-fitting-dyeable shoe wearing drones. Kind of harsh...maybe, but it's true! Here's proof!
J.Crew has an amazing assortment of affordable and wearable sheaths to suit every style wedding from barefoot casual to white-tie chic. They even have classicly beautiful wedding gowns that are very Narcisso Rodriquez-ish...think Caroline Bissett Kennedy's wedding gown in 1996 to JFK, Jr. Simply call one of their Wedding Specialists and they can help you choose the perfect dress, reccommend foundation garments as well as help you shop for your other wedding celebration attire...simply marvelous if you ask us! Plus the shoes and other accessories are fetching too.
We take wedding day beauty very seriously at URBANE...so seriously that we include bridal styling as apart of our Way Chic Full Wedding Planning package or you can book a Personal Assistant to style you for the big day with our Always Chic PA service. Here's a few other lines that have to die for maids dresses....enjoy!
Thread, Vera Wang (of course!), Liancarlo, Jenny Yoo, Stop Staring! and Ann Taylor (super affordable!)

Wedding Day Regrets
Many brides and grooms may wonder about the actual benefit of hiring a wedding planner. Quite often we hear from clients whose friends or family members had wedding-day drama that their biggest regret was not hiring URBANE (or any savvy wedding planner) for at least day of support.
Here's a bit of an article I found a few weeks ago. Check out the rest on MSN. …and contact us right away!
Biggest Wedding Regrets
Brides reveal their 'shoulda, coulda, woulda' moments.
By Charli Penn
What bride doesn't want her wedding day to go exactly as she planned with a minimal amount of drama? The truth is you can plan your heart out, but things may not always work the way you hoped they would. We asked newly married brides to be up-front and honest about their biggest preparation regrets so others could learn from their mistakes. Here's what they had to say.
"I would have hired a day-of coordinator. It got irritating when people would ask questions like, 'Where should I put the extra programs?' after the ceremony."
Tip: The one thing most brides don't get on their wedding day is a break. If you want to enjoy individual moments more and deal with questions and disasters less, hiring day-of help should be a high priority on your to-do list. The quality time you'll gain is well worth the fee.

What no one tells you
I must admit that the wedding planning process can get very scary...after all, choosing the right linen, ceremony music and stationary is enough to make you scrap the whole thing. It can be further alarming when you have cold feet just before the big day or have huge misgivimgs about situations that under any other circumstance you wouldn't even bat a insanely thick and wedding day appropriate eyelash about. Well, a few weeks ago on the Mike & Juliet Show http://www.mandjshow.com/ there was a great segment called "Relationships 101" which discussed what feelings were considered 'normal' before, on, and after your wedding. It was very informative....here are a few sample questions:
Is it normal to get cold feet before the wedding day? or Is it normal to invite your ex to the wedding? (uhhh....nooo?)
So before you lower those lashes in shame...check out the video for youself:

Catching the Blogging Bug
Hello and welcome to ALL THINGS STYLISH! I am VERY excited to be here for you, but I must admit there was a bit of hesitency on my part to start a blog. The daily (or at least weekly) commitement...the need to post something creative AND relevant and new, etc, etc! But despite myself I have decided that the pros far out weigh the cons and that I owe it to the "Style Gods' to add my two-cents to the fabulously insane world of wedding and event planning and design.

I have a profound - possibly ubsurd, depending on what circles you travel - appreciation for all things luxurious, chic and fabulous...hence the name. Be it fashion, interiors, event installations or food, I love beautiful things. And since you are reading this blog I assume that you too are one of the style obssessed.
We welcome your questions, ideas and comments and sincerely hope that we are a source of inspiration for you during your planning. And if you are need of help on the event planning and management front, we have equally amazing options for you available at URBANE WEDDINGS & EVENTS offers full-service event planning and design all based on your individual style and budget. Our oackages are chic and affordable and our events are one of a kind and absolutely dreamy! Here's a sample.
